Women at the heart of Cape Island - Celebrating her impact!

Welcome to a month filled with inspiration, empowerment, and the joyous celebration of the extraordinary accomplishments of the women of Africa!

Meet Suzanne Snowdowne! Co-founder, CEO & Creative Director at Cape Island. Be part of the celebration by diving into a quick Q&A that highlights her remarkable achievements.

1. Please would you share the story behind your creative journey as a women entrepreneur in the luxury home fragrance industry and how it has inspired other women to follow in your footsteps?

As a woman entrepreneur in the luxury home fragrance industry, my journey has been a blend of passion and perseverance. Overcoming challenges and breaking through barriers has inspired me to become a role model for other women aspiring to enter this industry. I believe that sharing my story and experiences helps other women feel empowered and confident in pursuing their dreams, no matter the odds.

2. How do you infuse your personal values and unique perspective as a woman into the creation of your luxury home fragrance products, and how does this resonate with your customers?

My luxury home fragrance products are an extension of my personality and values. Being a woman, I understand the importance of creating products that evoke a sense of comfort, warmth, and elegance in homes. Our fragrances are carefully crafted to resonate with the desires and aspirations of our female customers, offering them a unique sensory experience that speaks to their individuality and taste.

3. As a successful creative entrepreneur, what advice would you give to other aspiring women looking to start their own ventures in the home fragrance market?

To aspiring women entrepreneurs entering the home fragrance market, I would say: believe in your vision and never compromise on quality. Embrace what makes you different as it will set you apart in a very competitive industry. Stay true to your values and be open to learning from your failures as well as your successes. Build a supportive network of mentors and peers and remember that it's okay to ask for help when you need it.

 4. In what ways do you actively support and empower other women in your industry or community, and how does this impact the perception of your brand among your customers?

We are deeply committed to supporting women in our community through our impactful giving back initiative. A percentage of proceeds from the sales of our feature fragrance for Women's Month, 'African Storm,' is dedicated to anti-human trafficking organisations S-Cape and Hope Risen Foundation. Moreover, our company comprises a diverse team of 17 talented women with all our leadership positions held by inspirational women. We take immense pride in empowering our employees, fostering their independence, and nurturing their growth along their professional journeys. Our customers fully support this drive to create change and empower those around us.

5. Your luxury home fragrance brand seems to embody a strong sense of elegance and sophistication. How do you see this brand identity appealing to women and contributing to a positive and empowering image of femininity?

Our luxury home fragrance brand embodies elegance and sophistication because we believe that femininity is a powerful force that deserves celebration. We celebrate all facets of womanhood through our products, from nurturing and compassion to strength and resilience. By portraying femininity in a positive light, we hope to inspire our customers to embrace their uniqueness and feel comfortable and powerful in their own spaces.
