Black Gold - A tribute to the conservation of Africa’s endangered wildlife.
Their mission is to save black and white rhinos from extinction. Care for Wild commits themselves to rescuing abandoned, injured, and orphaned rhinos and to rehabilitate them wherever possible. They enlist the help of veterinarians, nutritionists, ecologists, and other specialists, to ensure the successful rehabilitation and release of these animals. Under the guidance of its founder, Petronel Nieuwoudt, the organisation is dedicated to the rehabilitation and release of rhinos orphaned by poaching.
Thorough and successful rehabilitation of an orphaned rhino calf takes commitment, dedication and above all, time. There are multiple stages within the rehabilitation journey, but each phase is designed to heal, nurture, and prepare the growing calf for release back into the wild.
From the time of admission into the Intensive Care Unit, each calf begins an extensive adaptation phase as they learn to live in a world without their Mom. Earning their trust and understanding the high level of loss, fear, uncertainty, and stress experienced by every calf, allows Care For Wild to support their rehabilitation needs properly and effectively
